'Morzine' is the biggest of 12 towns located in the alpine region known as 'Portes du Soleil' (gateway to the sun). It is a traditional savoyard village with a distinctive charm, which is often lacking in more purpose built resorts. In a recent survey by a French magazine 'Morzine' came 1st out of 50 alpine resorts for its natural beauty. It has a relaxed atmosphere, however still manages to be lively, with a impressive choice of bars, restaurants, shops and activities.

The greatest asset of the village is its position in the 'Portes du Soleil' area. This is reputedly the largest linked ski area in the world. In one direction 'Morzine' links conveniently with the more testing areas around 'Avoriaz' and 'Chatel' and then onto the Swiss resorts of 'Morgins' and 'Champery'. In the other direction it links with its neighbouring town 'Les Gets'.
